Doing something a bt different

I want to so something a little different here. Most of these books do not require a summary for teachers and parents. The title and cover art should suggest contents. Instead, what I want to suggest is that teachers use these as a thematic set, create a reading ladder of monsters, if you will, and use them as mentor texts for writing or as basis for some blog posts by kids. How about letting kids rank order from their most to least favorite and provide some sort of reason for their ranking? Compare and contrast the art: line, color, perspective, shape and then follow it up with an activity from Molly Bang's PICTURE THIS? So many things in addition of course to reading them aloud.
